Frequently Asked Questions...

Am I fit enough?
Everyone has different fitness levels when starting something new and all we ask is that you train as hard as you honestly can but at your own pace. Your fitness levels will increase the more you train. We are confident that within a few weeks you will see a difference and be able to do more and train harder.

Will I get punched? Will I have to fight someone?
No, we like to make sure you train with your partners… not on them. We are not an old-fashioned boxing or MMA gym where we make you spar with someone and ‘beat you up’. Our environment is friendly and safe. We will make sure you are wearing the correct safety equipment and show you how to punch and kick, but also how to defend yourself. Students are given the choice to spar once they are more experienced, but it is your choice, you will not be forced to spar.

What do I wear? Is it barefoot?
We ask all our students to wear something loose and comfortable such as tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt. If you decide the classes are something you want to carry on with we would ask you to purchase an academy t-shirt and for this to be worn for class. We do advise going barefoot however you can also wear grip socks if you prefer.

Do adults train with children?
We teach adults and children in separate classes so that everyone can get the most from there training. Over the years of teaching both adults and children we have realised that children and adults have completely different requirements when it comes to learning in a class environment so having separate adult and children’s classes is what we believe to be best for everyone.

What are the people like? Who will I train with?
The students we have are all like-minded people with similar goals to yourself. It is very important to us that every student feels welcome in classes and we ask all our students to be friendly and welcoming to new students – we all started as a beginner once.

Who will be teaching me? What will my first class be like?
Your main instructors are Alex, Elaina  and Oli. They will be teaching you and helping you achieve your goals. In your first class you will meet them and they will run you through some of the etiquette within the class, introduce you to some of the other students and start you off in the class. Our main aim is to make you feel comfortable and make sure you have fun while learning something new.
